NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Gotee recording artist Ryan Stevenson is wrapping up 2013-a year which found the singer/songwriter signing to Gotee Records; collaborating with GMA Artist of the Year TobyMac; releasing a hit Christian radio single; and touring with fan favorites Audio Adrenaline-with a GRAMMY® Award nomination.
"Speak Life," co-written by Stevenson, Jamie Moore and Toby McKeehan, recorded by TobyMac, is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song at the 56th Annual GRAMMY® Awards, to be held January 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Stevenson's acoustic version of "Speak Life" is featured on his critically acclaimed Holding Nothing Back EP, released this fall on the Gotee label.
"I began this year with open hands and an open heart, telling the Lord I would walk wherever He would lead," Stevenson says. "I could have never imagined where the journey would take me: becoming a part of the Gotee family, working with Toby, developing friendships with Christian radio folks across the country, opening for Audio Adrenaline, and most of all, seeing how God can use my songs and story to encourage others in the midst of what they are dealing with in their own lives. I'm so grateful."
"When we were first working on 'Speak Life,' we just wanted to express how words can be so powerful," Stevenson continues. "We are honored the song has struck a chord with people and we continue to believe it bears an important message."
Stevenson's Gotee debut, Holding Nothing Back EP, features the hit radio single of the same name, penned by Stevenson, Moore and McKeehan. The project was produced by Moore (TobyMac, Andy Grammer).
After capturing TobyMac's attention, Stevenson-who spent seven years as a paramedic-was signed to an exclusive recording agreement with the iconic artist's Gotee Records earlier this year. The Pacific Northwest native is a husband and father of two boys and currently serves as worship leader at Vertical Church Boise.
